The ports
Bergen National Harbour for Historic Ships (BNH) will be a superstructure for a national port for historic ships in Bergen and the surrounding region, and will become a distinctive attraction for the city and Vestland.
It consists of three sub-harbours that together form the brand: Vågen, Bergen Coastal Culture Centre and Old Bergen Museum. The sub-harbours are intended to showcase different aspects of the vintage boats, their sizes, types and uses.
Safe harbors with good access for visitors should be provided. The goal is to connect all the sub-harbors with sea transport using vintage boats. Today, the Sandviksruten with the "Beffen" has this function in the summer.
The sub-ports have different characters and functions:
Vaagen (bottom): Here you wil find the larger historic ships that have historically belonged in the city center. Either with Vaagen as their home port, or a permanent port of call.
Bergen Coastal Culture Center (center): This provides space for the great diversity of private and team-owned smaller vintage boats, such as rowboats and mid-sized motor and sailing vessels.
Old Bergen Museum (top): A more pure museum harbor with boats that convey the interaction between the museum's time period, buildings and the sea.
